Workshop topics included: Motivating the Underachieving Child, Media/Internet Influences on Youth, Helping Children Manage Anger/Difficult Situations, Integrating Assets into Preschool Programs, The Over-Scheduled Child, Communicating with Teens, Helping Children and Teens Cope with Stress, Teaching Kids to Care/Reducing Social Cruelty, Integrating Assets into After-School Programs, Emerging Drug Trends, Giving Kids What They Need to Succeed, and Helping Children Grow Socially and Emotionally.
Methamphetamine Summit 2006
This summit educated the communities of Blue Ash, Montgomery, Symnmes, and Sycamore about the dangers of methamphetamine. Topics that were covered included: What is methamphetamine?, Why should I be concerned?, Meth trends in Ohio, Physical, psychological, and emotional impact of meth on children and families, Signs of a meth lab, Products used to make meth and methods of use, Decontamination methods for the lab and people exposed, and What do you do if you come across a meth lab?
School Sector Trainings
Focused on increasing the capacity of schools to address Childhood and Adolescent Mental Health Issues: Signs, Symptoms, and Educational Strategies. Topics included: stress, depression, suicide, substance abuse, suicide, anger management, anxiety, ADHD, and bullying.
Faith-Based Trainings
These trainings focused on incorporating the assets into congregations as well as maximizing the potential of youth through asset development.
Asset Trainings
The Search Institute has conducted asset trainings for the Coalition Board (Sharing the Asset Message), faith-based communities (Building Assets in Congregations), and schools (Deepening Developmental Assets in School Communities). The Youth Coalition has conducted asset trainings for the Coalition Board, businesses, civic organizations, and youth.
Prescription and Non-Prescription Drug Abuse
Topics covered included: prescription and non-prescription drugs, alcoholic and non-alcoholic energy drinks, and trends in drug abuse in youth.
